「流行病學」這門有趣又實用的課程介紹醫學/公衛領域的科學方法論，是臨床醫療與公共衛生的共同科學基礎，閱讀醫學期刊時必備的基礎知識。本課程為適合大學部高年級與碩士班一年級程度同學的入門課程。教學方式以課堂講演為主，輔以課後作業練習以增加學習效果。課堂講演內容分成四大部分。第一部分介紹流行病學基本概念，包括流行病學簡史、疾病發生率與盛行率、因果推論等主題。第二部分介紹流行病學研究設計，包括實驗性研究、描述流行病學、世代追蹤研究、病例對照研究等主題。第三部分介紹流行病學的分析策略與資料庫，包括干擾作用、交互作用、存活分析、迴歸分析等主題。第四部分簡介流行病學專題研究領域，包括藥學流行病學、傳染病流行病學與基因體流行病學等主題。

“Epidemiology: An Introduction” is an entry-level course for master-level graduate students whose major study field is not epidemiology or biostatistics. This course introduces the students into scientific methods in medicine and public health, which is the common basis for clinical medical care and public health intervention. The students are expected to participate lecture course and practice homework projects. The lecture contents are divided into four major sections: (1) Basic concept: including history of epidemiology, incidence and prevalence of diseases, and causal inference; (2) Study design: experimental design, descriptive epidemiology, cohort study, and case-control study; (3) Data analysis and database: including cofounding, interaction, survival analysis, and regression analysis; (4) Special topics: including pharmacologic epidemiology, infectious diseases epidemiology, and genomic epidemiology.
